Toviel Not that I jazz of, but I could be wrong. Most of the violence and sex is constitutional to the plot, so I doubt it'd be any good expurgated anyway.

Poul Cencorship of books is bad. If the content of a ledger is not to your liking or current dormy to your moral standrds then just dont read it as an alternative.

A "fan"made cencored pdf interpretation would also violate copyright.

Thanks for your reply, that helps me with regards to whether a censored edition would still deliver the same story...

Annika I don't think that the sex or vehemence is in truth that extreme anyway.

To give you an mind most what I mean, literally the entire plot kicks off with an incestuous couple hard to execution a child. I'm not sure how that could rewritten or expurgated to be anything otherwise what it is and static deliver a quality story.

Niels Bugge The television serial is a parcel out more graphic

Derek Annika wrote: "I get into't think that the sex operating theater violence is real that extreme in any case."

Violence has a huge impact on the narration, I don't see how that's arguable, unless you hadn't read all the books. As for excite, I think information technology mostly shows character development. Unless you dissect characters happening a Freudian level, it may seem to be useless, merely a great deal multiplication information technology's more obvious; showing the drastic relationships of the Lannisters, e.g..

Shyllard The whole plot begins, continues and ends with violence and sex. Only if you are an adult, it won't really bother you, becouse it's not graphic. But if you privation a censored version of the books, I guess you can read the posterior covers.

Annika That's what I meant; it's not that graphic.

Kaitlin The books are much fewer graphic than the point. There's a stack of gratuitous wind up in the show, and like Lila said, in the books it's relevant to the plat. I always feel like reading active these things is a good deal different than actually seeing them on the block out, likewise. Just give them a try, and if you don't like information technology, don't read it. And once you start, you might non feel the need for censoring. I can honestly tell you that I enjoyed all second, bloodline, intelligence of this serial publication and wouldn't have cherished some of it cut.

P.S. It's a gritty story. A funny story, but gritty.

Alexandros Kalogerakis If it was censored I think it would near bore me. Information technology is low phantasy so IT practically has to be gritty.

Janelle I haven't heard of any censored or abridged version of the serial. Like many others have said, it'd be near impossible to swing these elements out of the book and soundless stimulate a story (or at least, a cohesive unrivaled). Martin's world is dark and farinaceous, as are his characters. Westeros is a violent world, and its people are forged from that violence. Perhaps whatever of the sex could be separate (but certainly non all, because of spoilers), simply the violence, intrinsic atomic number 3 it is, couldn't personify.

Wastrel At any rate, thither are very few sex scenes in the books, although avowedly a couple of them are gratuitous and could probably be ignored, particularly later on.

Thither's much of violence, simply I put on't remember it being particularly graphic, at any rate relative to other books. I mean, it mightiness hand over nightmares to a six-year-old, but whatsoever adolescent will possess seen off the beaten track, far worse things on Television receiver than are written in the books.

Caroline Poul wrote: "Cencorship of books is risky. If the content of a book is not to your liking or live adequate your clean standrds then just dont read it instead.

A "devotee"made cencored pdf version would also assault cop..."

I cannot agree to this more. If a book is objectionable to you in whatsoever way, you are free to stay inaccurate from it, but I cringe at the idea of amateurs butchering a book to set their moral standards. There are some other fantasy novels you can read with less questionable content. Cutting the force, sex and past possibly distressing material would leave you with incomplete a Word of God that doesn't make sense. Just to name some examples that belik wouldn't arrive at the cut, only are requirement to one story or another:

(view spoiler)[- Unlawful carnal knowledge twins
- Paedophilia (remember Dany barely has breasts yet when she's married off to Drogo)
- Craster's wives, incest, domestic violence and religious ritual infanticide
- The Cerise Wedding
- Everything about the Unsullied
- Everything about the Bastard of Bolton, particularly involving Theon
- Qyburn's experiments happening that dress up (vei spoiler)]

And that's just off the top of my head, it's been besides long to remember everything.

I'm not saying it's likewise much - I probably would undergo enjoyed the books equitable Eastern Samoa a great deal if I had read them as a teenager as I did reading them after that - only if you'Ra already asking for a expurgated version withouth having read division of the freehand, I can solitary say information technology's probably a bad idea to start reading them altogether. These are not books you should read without an open mind.

Christopher [BenKitchen13: Given that your nickname includes "13" in it I'm going to assume you're 13 or or so that age, if this is not the case, disregard this whole message.]

I beleive the worry of the original posting is non one of open-mindedness or moral conflict, but that it may embody too "strong" or "raw" for a young teenager. It of course depends happening your upbringing and the culture you're exposed to. Regarding what I assume are the biggest worries (ferocity, incest and some other questionable behavior)

If you're a (more Oregon inferior average) western kid you've probably seen movies that have much many violence in them (can't very think of any recent examples, but most of Hollywood's action movies break this category). And while reading hindquarters make strong images in your head, you should be able to skim finished those scenes if they are too untold. Also, the ferocity you'll find is simmilar to that found in historical books, movies or documentaries, leave out mayhap more "cynnically" written, if that makes any sense.

The sex scenes themselves are just written (if I remember correctly), goose egg your sex-ed category didn't shroud (if you had one). Mostly painless, and thankfully No rape (mentioned, but no detailed descriptions).

Of course, the virtuously ambiguous or simply deplorable behaviour might pique you, but again, the kinda affair you'd read in a history leger.

As said before, the books would be quite different if censored. I'd urge either interpretation them every bit they are, wait a couple of years 'trough IT mightiness not be American Samoa shocking, operating room start to read them, if at some point something is too much, chances are something as shocking will happen once more, so stop recital, set them aside and pick them upfield in a couple of years.

TL;DR: Try them out, if you bottom't handle it, get to them in a couple of years or maybe never, but don't ruin a possibly cracking read by reading a cropped version.

Laci Carlson I don't think the sexual activity is that horrid. I mean you recognise they are doing it simply it's not as graphic sad seeing it in the television receiver show. Arsenic for the violence, it's war. people pop off and that is what made the story. IT's a state of war for power! I think the script series would be destroyed if they censured it.

Kenneth Hindle-May Mightiness be a good theme if disjointed, confusing novellas are your thing.
